SMS opt-in disclosure
This page documents how VinCheapParts customers choose to receive text messages. It shows the same phone field, consent checkboxes and disclosure text used at checkout. Nothing on this page sends a message or stores a phone number.
What the customer sees
Demonstration only. Entries here are not sent or stored. Consent is recorded when a customer continues to payment on the checkout page.
How consent is collected and recorded
- The customer adds parts to the cart and opens Checkout.
- In the customer information form, the customer enters a mobile phone number. The phone field is optional unless the customer chooses text messages.
- Below the form are two separate text message checkboxes. Both are unchecked by default and both are optional.
- When the customer continues to payment, a chosen phone number is validated as a U.S. or Canadian number. If a box is checked, the page sends the number, the choices, the source (checkout) and the disclosure version to our server.
- The server records one event per consent type with the type, status, timestamp, source and disclosure version. The page says preferences were saved only after the server confirms the write. If saving fails, the customer is told, no consent is assumed, and the order is not blocked.
- Customers can reply STOP to any message to revoke consent, or HELP for assistance.
